About

china teaI’m Sammie Buzzard, a PhD student at the University of Reading studying the role of surface melt in the break up of Antarctic ice sheets. This is based on computer modelling, so I don’t have to brave the cold or leave my cup of tea to do this, although I have been lucky enough to visit the arctic and an Icelandic glacier during my PhD.

Here I’m going to post things about my research, semi-related climate science that people are often confused/ have misconceptions about and also some cake. Because if I’ve learnt anything so far in my PhD it’s that cake is essential for PhD research.

See here for my personal website.
